Seeing each other as human beings is very important to me right now. I have been focusing on ignoring trigger words or asking for clarification about what the person means because there are a lot of trigger words right now.

I had a really good experience last week when someone who is very into political discussions, I was able to ask questions and we had a wonderful conversation that we both enjoyed about what is a soul, what is an ego, those kind of things. During that conversation I saw her humaneness and was able to ask questions that played to her strengths with her education in psychology. I found it very interesting. It felt like it was Maharaji guiding me to see her as my friend, an ally, vs opposition to my opinion. In that moment I saw that I do have opinions, lol… I thought I had taken care of those! :joy:

What a great example! Thank you for sharing!

If we’re to understand Buddhism dynamically, maniacally, I think all division, whether somehow an unintended consequence of the march towards discourse/enlightenment/positive growth on behalf of individuals and social factions, or that which is perpetrated intentionally by vagabonds hoping to inflict a state of arrested development/perpetuate a bias… can be seen as in sublimation towards bringing individuals into a state of meaningful spiritual connection. In our culture, during this election year, you will see pundits whose strategy can only be described as sowing the seeds of potential division…in a strategy to prop one person up at the expense of another along lines that are moreso artificial/of human plotting than they are of natural, universal dynamics (causality)…and such camps will simply be in competition with those that are finer and play neater…in hopes that the social machine reflects our moral compass/what we know of universal dynamics when its all said and done… these sorts of culture wars and ways of being come to a head at times and see themselves squared off with one another…and that is a wild dance, but it’s one that is infinitely entertaining…it predicates the entire culture… every corner of hollywood…everything… so show up with your heart on your sleeve and play the game <3

What a great way to put it!

In the words of Ram Dass: “You can do it like it’s a great weight on you, or you can do it like it’s part of the dance.
